Cornerstone Earth Group, Inc. provided geotechnical and environmental services to Federal Realty Investment Trust (FRIT), owner of the urban mixed-use commercial and residential development at Santana Row in San Jose. The development is a mixed-use development on a former parking lot (Lot 6B) that included a concrete podium structure with one-level below grade parking and four levels of wood-framed residences; a courtyard with landscaping and other improvements will be included at the podium level.
The fast-track project schedule called for the geotechnical report to be completed in less than one week. Cornerstone relied on boring and subsurface data previously generated to reduce project costs and to meet the tight deadline. In addition, Cornerstone worked closely with Barry Swenson Builder and the project architect, Ankrom Moisan, to expedite submittal/RFI reviews and to obtain responsive approvals. Also, Cornerstone coordinated with Department of Toxic Substances and Control to obtain unrestricted use of Lot 6B.
