Cornerstone Earth Group, Inc. continues to provide geotechnical and geologic services for KB Home Northern California for Phases 3 and 4 at the Communications Hill development in San Jose, CA. Cornerstone has worked closely with KB Home’s project design team since 2014, including HMH Civil Engineers and XL Engineering. Communications Hill is a mixed-use project designed to create up 2,200 residential units consisting of townhomes, condominiums, and apartments, in the Village Center. The development will include up to 67,500 square feet of commercial/retail uses, 55 acres of industrial park uses and public parks, open space, trails, and other associated supporting infrastructure.
A circumnavigating trail system will offer views of the valley, link neighborhood parks and extend to the San Jose’s existing trail network with a connection to the Highway 87 Bikeway. The trail system will be developed in phases as neighborhoods are built on the hill.
Cornerstone has provided creative and cost-effective recommendations for deep fills, mitigation of weak soils and undocumented fill, differential cut/fill transition areas, retaining wall design options, temporary stormwater storage and collection mitigation recommendations, and recommendations to address complex geologic conditions, including hard rock excavations.
